Pages 3-18 contain the history of the Presbytery of New Castle from its organization, March 13th, 1717, to 1786, by the Rev. J.L. Vallandigham. Pages 8-24, with separate title page, contain the history of Presbytery of New Castle from 1786 to 1888 by Rev. Samuel A. Gayley.
"This history was prepared by direction of the Presbytery of New Castle, read before the Synod of Baltimore, and by recommendation of the Synod is published," referring to Vallandigham's essay.
