Spine includes binder's title in gilt, along with decorative device of the Boston Public Library in gilt. Front pastedown includes donors' ex libris (bookplate) of the Boston Public Library identifying copy as a gift of Joshua Bates, received on September 15, 1859. Printed on antique laid papers with horizontal (turned) chainlines, vertical wire lines, and watermark present at head-/spine-edge. Title page includes embossed stamp of the Boston Public Library. Verso of title page includes annotations in pencil script. Rear pastedown includes affixed label (dated October 1884) of the Boston Public Library detailing circulation regulations, and ink stamp of the Boston Public Library Bindery dated "NOV 19 1884".
