The 1st 2 vols. of Zetzner's 3-vol. ed. of Paracelsus, the 3rd being the Chirurgische Bücher of 1618. First issued in 1603 and based on Huser's 10-vol. ed. of 1589-1591. Cf. Hogart.
T.p. (v. 1) in red and black within ornamental woodcut border, incorporating a port. of Paracelsus at the top, publisher's device at bottom with motto "Scientia immvtabilis," the initials "C M / L + F" on bellows at lower right. Publisher's device on t.p., v. 2.
Section XXIII of v. 2, the Archidoxa, includes woodcut magical diagrams within circles, squares and triangles, and 2 pictorial series. The first consists of 30 woodcuts with representations of the Pope and the running title: Ausslegung der magischen Figuren im Carthäuser Kloster zu Nürnberg. The second consists of 31 woodcuts on various subjects with the running title: Figvrae magicae Theophr.
