The biobibliography of Prof. PhD Veselin Dimitrov (1938–2009) was made on the occasion of his 65th anniversary and by the idea of the management of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass communication at Sofia University. The publication is the first self-dependent, complex and analytical presentation of the scientific and of the applied science production of Veselin Dimitrov. The book is structured into five sections. In the first section is published the inaugural article of Simeon Vasilev, Head of Department “Information” in the Bulgarian National Television. It follows the chronological reference, entitled “Important dates in the biography of Prof. PhD Veselin Dimitrov”. The second section reflects his personal bibliography, and in the third is published the bibliography of the publications “about him”. The fourth section represents a research apparatus, where have been prepared five indexes for information search (Name index, Geographical index, Object index, Index of the print and electronic media, Index of the institutions and the organisations). At the end of the publication can be found photos and documents that are published for the first time. The biobibliographic corpus covers various of type and genre publications, with which Veselin Dimitrov is proving his enduring presence and causes timely resonance in the National and international documentary – written and audiovisual fund. There are registered 366 bibliographic units, of which 209 are his author’s and 157 are devoted to him or related with his scientific, teaching and public activity. The chronological framework of the real bibliographic array covers the period from 1965 to the end of 2003. The material is systematised in two main parts: “Bibliography of the works of Prof. PhD Veselin Dimitrov” and “Publications about the life and the work of Prof. PhD Veselin Dimitrov”. In the first part are differentiated the following structural fields: Dissertation; Books; Studies and articles; Book reviews; Interviews in print media; Translations; Composite and initiated publications; Editor and scientific consultant of books; Reviewer of published books; Reviewer of dissertation and research works; Discography (gramophone records). The second part – the publications about Prof. Veselin Dimitrov, is a reflection of the scientific and journalistic reception of his personality and of his work. There are separated two rubrics: “Articles, essays, portraits, reviews, photos” and “Reportages and communications”. In the biobibliography are not covered the unpublished, the uncirculated and the inaccessible for the user materials: reports, projects, TV and radio interviews, radio commentaries, radio reports, theses, to which Prof. Veselin Dimitrov was adviser, as several films and gramophone records, undiscovered in the process of research. By its nature the edition “Veselin Dimitrov: Bio-bibliography” is scientific auxiliary and aims to promote the research and the teaching activity in journalism, in history, theory and methodology of radio communications. The book represents a contribution to the field of academic personal bibliography. The methodological thesis, which is worked with, is for rationalization of the bibliography as a cumulative book of the condensed knowledge about a phenomenon or a person and as a mediator in the communications in the society of the knowledge. This thesis about the bibliography as media is theorized in two scientific articles of Milena Tsvetkova – „The seeking man: the reputation of the bibliographic culture“ (2005) and „Bibliography as a medium“ (2005). Through the bibliographic method is constructed systematized model of the author’s heritage of four Professors from the Sofia University – Assoc. Prof., PhD Ljuben Atanasov (2001), Prof., PhD Veselin Dimitrov (2004), Prof., Dr. habil. Andrej Pantev (2004, second digital edition 2004) and Prof., Dr. habil. Marko Semov (2004, second digital edition 2006). The four editions respect and improve the set up research model of the first personal bibliography created by Milena Tsvetkova – about Marko Vachkov, the Bulgarian banker and socially active person from the late XIX to the early XX century („Marko Vachkov: biobibliografiia”, 1996). As a result of this approach today we dispose of full information databases for future historical, sociological, cultural, literary and book scientific research projects and for the obligatory for them bibliometric analysis.
