Place and date of publication of Madrid, 1582 suggested by Medina and by the JCB Short-title catalogue.
Date of publication was probably not after October, 1581, as the lunar eclipse occurred in January 1582, and the sending of this instruction from Spain would have taken approximately three months to arrive.
Royal decree issued by Philip II on how to observe and record the lunar eclipse of 1582 in the Spanish colonies.
