In order to fully appreciate art through an unadulterated emotional response, it is first necessary to penetrate the intellect that lies between the senses and the central core of emotional and spiritual awareness. It is the intellect that demands explanations and persists in examining everything sensed. Only by bypassing or ignoring the intellect is it possible to experience a genuine emotional response.
