Plantin's device on t.p. (compasses). Author's port. on t.p. verso, signed A for Arnaud Nicolai, who with Cornelis Muller and Gerard Janssen van Kampen was responsible for cutting blocks for the emblems, after drawings by Luc de Heere and Pieter Huys (one by Geoffroy Ballain); see Voet. The section devoted to emblems is followed from p. 289 by that devoted to Roman coins; it is dedicated to Jean Grolier.
