On verso of front free endpaper, in brown ink: 1983 A-G. Manuscript note (1 p.) in brown ink inserted after t.p. The note describes two purchases by [François-Pascal] Haudry (whose catalog is bound in this volume) at the sale of M. Chariot held in Paris Jan. 28, 1788 (Lugt 4250). According to the note, Haudry bought lot 37, two paintings by Patel le pere (Pierre Patel I) for 1200 livres tournois; this lot corresponds to painting lots 71 and 72 of Haudry's catalog. According to the note, Haudry also bought a drawing by Pietro Testa, lot 86 (lot 119 of drawings in Haudry's catalog), for 338 livres tournois. Binding: cat's-paw calf; gilt rules on boards; gilt decorated spine; edges sprinkled red; former library label on top board. Gilt spine title on green labels.
