Following the instructions to the binder, 17 leaves of plates are bound in at the end of v. 1, 1 at the end of v. 2.
The frontispiece has been engraved by J. Tardieu filius after A. Humblot and displays a many-faceted collection of period scientific materials. Those folded leaves which have been signed were engraved by L.se du V. Tardieu, all illustrating the content of the various sections.
Vol. 1 opens with Philosophy, then mathematics, and physical sciences in their many aspects. Vol. 2 continues with geography, chronology, calendar, chemistry, the body, and medicine, concluding with "L'Homme" and "La Morale".
