An alteration by Betterton of Fletcher and Massinger's "The prophetess", originally produced in 1690 with music by Henry Purcell.
Fletcher and Massinger's original play first appeared in the 1647 folio of Beaumont and Fletcher. (cf. D.N.B. v. 13, p. 13).
