Edition Notes
Medea, Ifigenia, and Hecuba derive from Euripides. Thieste derives from Seneca. See L.G. Clubb, Italian plays in the Folger Library.
Printer's device on t.p. and (in a larger version) often on last leaf as well. Titles proper in cartouches at head of t.p.'s. Initials. Head and tailpieces.
Each play has separate paging and signatures, and each after the first has separate t.p.
In Getty copy the plays appear in the order: Giocasta, Medea, Didone, Ifigenia, Thieste, Hecuba.
Binding: red goatskin (late 19th century?), tooled in gilt on boards, spine (with author, title, imprint), edges of boards, turn-ins. The edges gilt.
Centered on front pastedown is seal-shaped armorial bookplate of Sir Charles James Stuart, bt. (1824-1901).
