The road that leads from babyland to adulthood is marked by many important events. We know that the kind of man or woman a child will become depends largely upon the experiences he encounters along the way. To mothers, fathers, and teachers is given the great responsibility of working with children in the best way possible. It is their privilege to offer guidance in such a manner that youngsters enter adulthood well adjusted and relatively free from problems that would handicap them throughout life. This book considers four problems which frequently beset young children: thumbsucking, bedwetting, temper tantrums, and speech problems. Sometimes they are related, but often they exist independently. These problems may be very slight, since, to some extent, they are normal for all children. But when they are serious and persist over long periods of time, parents should come to the rescue of the child by looking for the causes of these symptoms. Such action may very well help an otherwise disturbed child develop normally and live a happy, fruitful life. - Introduction.
