Mickey Dole's gang breaks out of jail, killing and plundering in their bid for freedom. Ranch hand Clem Shaw joins a posse that includes a devious bounty hunter and a reluctant lawman. As the hunt progresses, he realizes that things are not at all clear-cut: his enemies are not all in the fugitive gang - which is now divided amongst itself.
