Translation of: Merckwüdige Nachricht aus Ost-Indien / primarily by Bartholomaeus Ziegenbalg, and also Heinrich Pl scho, Johann Ernst Gründler and others, first printed Leipzig, Frankfurt and Berlin, 1708; first printed in English in London, 1709.

Letters written by Bartholomaeus Ziegenbalg, Heinrich Plütscho, Johann Ernst Gründler and others, and translated by Anton Wilhelm Böhm.

Consists of 3 parts, each with separate title page, pagination and register.

Includes a sampling of Malabar language in an engraved script in pt. 1, p. 28.

Title page of part 2 reads: "Propagation of the Gospel in the east: being an account of the progress made by some missionaries at Tranquebar in the East-Indies, for the conversion of the heathen in Malabar. Of the methods by them taken for effecting this work; of the obstructions they meet with; and of the proposals which they make in order to promote it. Together with some observations relating to the Malabarian philosophy and divinity: and concerning their Bramans, pantares, and poets. Translated and extracted from the original letters of the said missionaries, and humbly recommended to the consideration of the most honourable Corporation for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foerign Parts. The third edition" with imprint: London: Printed and sold by John Downing, in Bartholomew-Close near West-Smithfield, 1718.

Title page of part 3 reads: "Propagation of the Gospel in the east: being a collection of letters from the Protestant missionaries, and other worthy persons in the East-Indies, &c. Relating to the mission; the means of promoting it; and the success it hath pleased God to give to the endeavours used hitherto, for propogating true Christianity among the heathen in those parts, but chiefly on the coast of Coromandel. With a map of the East-Indies. Part III. Published by the direction of the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge" with no edition statement, and has imprint: London: Printed and sold by J. Downing, in Bartholomew-Close near West-Smithfield, 1718.

Part 3 contains an account of a voyage made by Jonas Finck to Brazil on p. 1-17, 1st count, dated: St. Sebastian, near the River Janeiro in Brazil, the 20th of October, 1711, and is translated from the High-Dutch.
