Consists of the report of the Commitee of Visitors (A. J. Baker Cresswell, chairman), confirmation of the committee's report, list of the Commitee of Visitors, the superintendent's report (Richard Wilson) including the report of the Commissioners in Lunacy (R. W. S. Lutwidge and James Wilkes), statistical, financial and dietary tables.

The asylum is referred to variously as: "The Asylum, Cottingwood", Northumberland County Asylum", "The County Lunatic Asylum", "The Pauper Lunatic Asylum of the County of Northumberland" and "The Northumberland Pauper Lunatic Asylum"

The asylum is situated at Cottingwood, near Morpeth, in the county of Northumberland.
