Merlin's Mechanical Museum was owned by the inventor John Joseph Merlin and was in operation from 1783-1808.

Lower date from internal evidence (p. 16), Merlin's Necromantic Cave was first proposed in 1787, cf. Daniel Lysons The environs of London, 1811, v. 2, pt. 2, p. 607-609. Upper date from internal evidence (t.p.) "Ladies and Gentlemen, who honour Mr. Merlin with their company," therefore before Mr. Merlin's death in 1803.
