Abbreviated final environmental impact statement

proposed land exchange between Bureau of Land Management and Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians

The proposed land exchange would occur within the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. This exchange would improve opportunities for the use and protection of public lands, and promote their effective and efficient management. It would reduce the extent of 'checkerboard' land ownership by consolidating BLM and Tribal land bases, thereby providing for more logical and consistent land management responsibility in the Monument. Because changes to the Draft EIS were minor, BLM decided to print an abbreviated Final EIS instead of rewriting the draft. The abbreviated Final EIS consists of a new cover sheet and two appendices (N and O) and should be used in conjunction with the Draft EIS.
