There are two known editions of this work in the same year distinguished not only by setting of type but by the following: in one edition the "Table des Chapitres" has the page numbers preceded either by "p.", "pag.", or "page"; on p. 158, 1st count, Chapter XI is wrongly headed "Chapitre II."; in the other edition in the "Table des Chapitres", page numbers, except for the first item, are not preceded by "p.", "pag.", or "page"; Chapter XI is headed "Chap. VIII." There are also several variants within each edition; cf. McCoy, J.C. Jesuit relations, 31-37.

John Carter Brown Library copy 1 is what McCoy describes as "Second Edition" in which the "Table des Chapitres", page numbers, except for the first item, are not preceded by "p.", "pag.", "page" and Chapter XI is headed "Chap. VIII." This copy is identical to McCoy's "Variant One" (cf. McCoy, p. 93). Page 22, 2nd count, of this copy is damaged with slight loss of text which is available in copy 2.

John Carter Brown Library copy 2 is also what McCoy describes as "Second Edition, Variant One" (see above). This copy lacks the last leaf (blank), and also the title page of the "Relation" by Lallemant (leaf L4). The missing title page is available in copy 1, and in copy 2 has been replaced by the title page of the same part in McCoy, 35.
