Edward Griswold (ca.1607-1691) was a son of George Griswolf of Keniworth, England. Edward emigrated in 1639 from England to Windsor, Connecticut, and married twice. Edward Griswold (1758-1843), direct descendant in the fifth generation, served in the Revolutionary War, and married Asenath Hurd in 1783. They moved from Killinworth, Connecticut to Fairfield New York and later to Dryden, New York. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Oregon and elsewhere. Some descendants became missionaries serving in India and elsewhere.
