Contains contributions by Ambrose Philips, Nicholas Rowe, Joseph Trapp, Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift, William Wycherley, Earl of Mulgrave, Samuel Garth, Thomas Tickell, John Hughes, Henry Grove, Laurence Eusden and others. Also contains two unsigned works by Jonathan Swift: "On Mrs. Biddy Floyd" and "Baucis and Philemon."

Three pieces by Pope are here first printed: "January and May; or, The Merchant's tale: from Chaucer," "The episode of Sarpedon, translated from the twelfth and sixteenth books of Homer's Iliads" and "Pastorals." cf. R.H. Griffith. Alexander Pope: a bibliography, no. 1.
