Contains only the Old Testament; the New Testament was published at Rheims in 1582 under title: The New Testament of Iesvs Christ translated faithfully into English, out of the authentical Latin ... Printed at Rhemes, by Iohn Fogny, 1582. Together the two form the 1st edition of the so-called Douay Bible. Both were translated from the Latin vulgate mainly by Gregory Martin, under the supervision of Cardinal Allen. The notes, tables, etc. were by Richard Bristow, Thomas Worthington and Allen.
