An edition of John William Corrington (1994)

John William Corrington

southern man of letters

This collection of essays covers the many areas of Corrington's interest. His novels, his short stories, his poetry, his political and philosophical essays, and his television and movie scripts. Corrington's stories were included in The Best American Short Stories in 1972, 1976, and 1977, and in the O. Henry Awards Collection for 1976.

Nelson Algren has written that the novel, The Upper Hand, "is the darkest, funniest American novel since Catch 22." James Dickey says of his short stories, "A more forthright, bold, adventurous writer than John William Corrington would be very hard to find."
