H. Melzer's and H.D. Kreuder's notes identify Heinrich Steinhöwel as author of the first two works, both elaborations of older stories; the encyclopedic Lucidarius is a 15th-cent. printed abridgment, in a more advanced state of German language, of the 12th-cent. anonymous Middle High German work.
Edition combines text of Steinhöwel's Apollonius reprinted from the Augsburg 1471 ed. with later woodcuts and 1516 t.p. with title Appolonius; errata slip gives original printing date of Griseldis as 1475, with printing ascribed to G. Zainer; Lucidarius reproduces the May 26th, 1479 print by J. Bämler.
