Fin Macleod, now head of security on a privately owned Lewis estate, is charged with investigating a spate of illegal game-hunting taking place on the island. This mission reunites him with Whistler Macaskill - a local poacher, Fin's teenage intimate, and possessor of a long-buried secret. But when this reunion takes a violent, sinister turn and Fin puts together the fractured pieces of the past, he realizes that revealing the truth could destroy the future.

Work Description

Ex-Detective Inspector Fin McLeod discovers a light aircraft at the bottom of a spontaneously drained loch while investigating illegal activity on the estate of a poacher and former childhood friend.

Sequel to: The Lewis man.

Living again of the Isle of Lewis, ex-Detective Inspector Fin McLeod is working as a security officer for a local landowner. While investigating illegal activity on the estate Fin encounters the elusive poacher and former childhood friend Whistler Macaskill. They witness a freak natural phenomenon-- a 'Bog Burst'-- which spontaneously drains a loch of its water, revealing a mud-encased light aircraft. Inside is the body of Roddy Mackenzie, a friend whose flight disappeared more than seventeen years before. Fin is unprepared for how the truth about the past will alter the course of the future.
