Edition Notes

Written by a church planter and pastor of 45 years, Restoring the Five Fold Ministry maintains that the single pastor church has diminished both the understanding of the utilization of the five-fold ministry gifts given to the church. The Biblical model of church leadership was collegial eldership where several men were equal in authority, which later evolved in a model where one man became the "chairman" of the elders, later known as pastor. This ascendancy has resulted in maladaptive leadership that conflicts with the servant-leader model of leadership established by Jesus. The church must return to collegial eldership in order to truly understand the purpose of the five-fold ministry gifts alluded to by Paul in chapter 4 of his letter to the Ephesians.
