As a teenager Mallory wanted to donate a kidney to save her cousin, but couldn't. Now she informs her parents and her boyfriend Tate that she will donate a kidney to save the life of Majida, the daughter of her Pakistani pen pal Abdul. She travels to Pakistan, and reluctantly agrees to wed Abdul so Majida can come to America for treatment. Motivated by the naive trust, Mallory now faces betrayal and life-threatening danger in Pakistan's lawless Pashtun tribal regions. Her only hope in this hopeless situation is a loving heavenly Father, whose presence sustains her.
