Work Description
Many of John Gibson sculptures are in The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool UK, including the famous Tinted Venus. Gibson was apprenticed in Liverpool And moved to Rome where he was taught by the finest sculptors in the city. A favourite of Queen Victoria several sculptures are in Buckingham Palace. Sculpted famous figures of the day and later in his career taught Vinny Reames (The New York Angel of the Waters) and Harriet Hosmer among others. Quite funny in places where Gibson’s eccentricities come the fore.
