Der vorliegende Band bildet den Grundstock einer zukünftigen komparativen Literaturwissenschaft Südosteuropas von der frühen Neuzeit bis zur Moderne im frühen 20. Jahrhundert und vergleicht zum erstenmal die Entwicklung von Gattungen und Epochenstilen der Belletristik, ideologische Tendenzen,
Thematik und Motivik bzw. Rezeptionsvorgänge und Vorbildwirkungen in den Literaturen Ungarns und Rumäniens, der südslawischen Länder und Albaniens, Griechenlands und der Türkei.
