The book contains two plays, calypso musicals, scripts using the calypsos of the day to frame the story line. 'The Road make to Walk' examines the life of the Lord Kitchener(Aldwyn Roberts), one of the legends of Calypso. It examines his life story from his entry into the calypso world to his successful sojourn in England, his return to Trinidad and Tobago where he took up the mantle of the King of the Road, his songs being the most popular on Carnival days, to his coronation as one of the greatest lyricists and tune-smiths in the history of the Calypso artform, ending with his death and his honouring by the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The second play is 'De Roaring 70's', the dramatic version of the book by the same name (and author). This chronicles the heady decade of the 1970's when the Black Power movement, led by the charismatic Makandal Daaga (Geddes Granger), and the guerilla thrust championed by Guy Harewood, would try to bring positive changes to the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago. The plot revolves around a single parent family, Ma Jacob and her two teenage children, Gerard and Beverly, whose lives are forever changed by the experiences of the 1970 movement.
