Edition Notes
"Printed in 300 copies."
The planet book, or set of so called seven planet prints, was acquired for the Statens Museum for Kunst from the Count Chr. Lerche collection in 1928. In 1929 a Danish edition of the facsimiles was published.
The reproduction of the planet pictures (p. [37]-[50]) includes facsimiles of the Latin text written on the back of the leaves. These text facsimiles are repeated on p. 53-59 with typographical transcripts and English translations added.
A copy of this block book (ca. 1460) in the Kupferstichgabinet of the Staatliche museen in Berlin is believed to have impressions of "Mars" and "Jupiter" from the same (original?) blocks from which the Danish set is printed, while the other five pictures are judged to be prints from re-cut blocks of nearly the same age. cf. Introduction, p. 22; also W.L. Schreiber, Manuel, t. IV (1902) p. 417-427, Handbuch, bd. IV (1917) p. 73-78; and F. Lippmann, The seven planets (International Chalkogr. soc. 1895)
