Edition Notes
"Includes over 100 pages of photographs of his buildings, a brief history of his time, and some personal reflections by the book's photographer, Mary Abbott. Claire Allen produced many notable buildings for the Jackson community such as the Post Office, the Masonic Temple, Trinity United Methodist Church, the old Foote Hospital, the County Courthouse Building, the Friendly Home, the Cascades Clubhouse, and the Medical Care Facility. He was also responsible for many private homes.... In 1990, the City of Jackson Historic Commission began researching Mr. Allen and...asked one of its associate members, Mary Abbott, to work with them in collecting and documenting the work of Mr. Allen. Mrs. Abbott is a well-known local photographer and personal acquaintance of the Allen family." -- Letter, 7 Jan 1997, from Deborah Kuehn, Secretary, Historic District Commission.
