Edition Notes

The dedication is signed "Theoph. Verax" while the prefatory epistle which follows bears the signature "Theodorus Verax."

Book 2 has special title page: "The History of independency with the rise, growth, and practices of that powerfull and restless faction .... London, Printed in the Year 1648." The apendix has special title page: "An appendix to the history of Independency, being a brief description of some few of Argyle's proceedings, before and since he joyned in confederacy with the Independent junto in England: with a parallel betwixt him and Cromwell, and a caveat to all his reduced adherents ... London, Printed in the Year, 1648."

Signatures: A-2B⁴.

Initials, ornaments differ from other 1648 printing. The third leaf of each gathering printed without signature mark in this printing. Catchword on "To my dread Soveraign" dedication page is "They".

"A list of the names of the members of the House of Commons observing which are officers of the army ... with such summes of money ... as they have given to themselves for service ... against the king and kingdome. Corrected and augmented" (first printed 1648) : p. 166-174.
