"The book presents a new look at the coin circulation in the Bosporan Kingdom in the Roman period based on a radically different approach than previous studies. It enables a much more detailed picture to emerge of the period from the reign of Asandros to the last Bosporan king Rheskouporis VI (49/48 BC to AD 341/342). This study makes full use of the evidence of the single finds as well as the hoards whereas the previous studies solely rely on the hoards. The study also introduces a different approach to grading the reliability of the available information about the finds by a new division into a new type of find groups. The best finds form the core of the study, but the evidence of the other groups are also used, when possible. This approach points to a new way to reintegrate coin finds, where the information on the find circumstances is lost, but using this approach it is possible to pinpoint, when a particular hoard was likely deposited. The influence of the Roman Empire on the Bosporan coinage as it emerges from the coin evidence is also a topic of discussion in the book that includes catalogues of the Bosporan coins found up to 2009 and the Roman coins found in the Bosporan Kingdom just as the book presents a concordance between the different typologies of the Bosporan coins."--
