Work Description

(back cover)
Anma originated in China over 4000 years ago. It moved into Japan more than 1500 years ago where it developed into a distinct therapy. The major methods of todays massage therapy, including Swedish massage and Shiatsu, grew out of this ancient massage tradition.

Here is the first Japanese-authored massage book published in English to fully explain the art and method of Anma. Anma is explained in visual and technical combination. Over 1,000 photographs and illustrations, in 101 examples covering the entire body, have been used to supplement the detailed text. Anma - The Art of Japanese Massage is written for the layperson to enjoy and learn the art of Japanese massage, as well as to provide expanded ideas and fresh inspiration for the professional.
