Leichter's life journey has taken him from Vienna to Belgium, and eventually to Oklahoma, where he has been a prominent philanthropist for decades. At age 14, the Jewish-Protestant Leichter was forced to flee the Third Reich and the death camps that killed some of his relatives. As an adult, he opened a jewelry store in Oklahoma City. He is a trustee emeritus at Oklahoma City University.
