"Multiple Use and Disposal Classification - PL 9-607. Bureau Motion activity for multiple use of public lands has had good support from the resource agencies of the State of California. At the same time, other State agencies - State Lands commission, Division of Mines, Department of Parks and Recreation - are concerned that public lands be available for disposal to satisfy school lands including indemnity selections and for recreation programs. The Division of Mines is concerned that in classification for multiple use that segregation from the mining and mineral leasing laws be kept at a minimum. BLM classification programs require careful balance between multiple use and disposal and regulations require that transfer and classification of area in excess of 2560 acres require hearing, publications and other public dialogue. Further transfers may require surveys, clearance of mineral conflicts, adjudication of conflicts and issuance of title"--Page 1.
