Publisher and date from colophons of both titles (V4v, Hh4v). Heinrich Petri's device with hammer striking flames from a rock appears on both colophons, and in a larger version on the t.p. of the 2nd title; see Basler Büchermarken, 74 and 76.
First issued by Petri in 1531 under title: Compositio horologiorum.
Second work has separate t.p., with title: Sonnen vhren ausz Zaltafflen zümachen ...
Some ill. after Hans Holbein (Q3r, S2v); see Hollstein. Hollstein 88a, depicting a sundial on a wall, has been replaced by another cut (K4r or O2v). Hollstein 88c, not there illustrated, apparently corresponds to the cut on R2r.
