The comet seen "throughout the world" in 1680 referred to in the title is the Kirch comet, discovered by discovered by Gottfried Kirch in 1680. It has the distinction of being the first comet discovered by telescope. It was discovered and became one of the brightest comets of the 17th century.
This work is a reply to: Manifiesto filosófico contra los cometas / by Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora, printed in Mexico City, 1681.
