The Léopardins, a group of 85 representatives of the Saint-Marc Assembly, mostly white planters, who took advantage of a sailors' revolt aboard the ship, the Léopard, anchored at Saint-Marc. After taking over the ship, they set sail for Paris to claim the tyranny of the local government. This letter, written off the coast of Brest, is an appeal for protection.
