A variant of the 1670 edition.

The words "The cosmicall qualities . of the sea." are bracketed together on title page.

Signatures: [A]⁴ ( -[A]3) B-E⁸ F⁴ G-H⁸; pi² ²A-B⁸ ²C⁶; ³A-B⁸ ("B2,3) ³C⁶.

"Of the systematicall or cosmicall qualities of things" and "Cosmicall suspitions" each have separate divisional title page and pagination; register is continuous. "Three tracts" has separate dated title page, pagination, and register. "Of the temperature of the submarine regions as to heat and cold" has separate divisional title page, pagination, and register. "Relations about the bottom of the sea" has separate divisional title page and pagination; register is continuous.

Final two leaves are blank.

With errata on ¹[A]4. Variant 1: ¹[A]4 cancelled.

Variant 2: quire H is mispaginated: 61, 18, 19, 18, 23, 22, 23, 22, 23, 22, 23, 22.

With vertical half-title on H8v: "Mr Boyles history of particular qualities". Variant 3: H8v blank.

Leaf ²C6 is blank. Variant 4: ²C5v bears the same text as ²C5r, while ²C6r bears the text usually found on ²C5v, and the page is numbered 43.

Leaves ³B2,3 are cancels. Line 1 of ³B2v ends "to the lower, ". Variant 5: ³B2,3 not cancelled. ³B2v line 1 ends "(the like experiment we."

Copies with this title page tend to have variants 2, 3, and 4.
