Constitutes the twelfth part of Sammlung von sechs und zwanzig Schiffahrten in verschiedene fremde Länder durch Levinus Hulsius und einige Andere, aus dem Holländischen ins Deutsche übersetzt und mit allerhand Anmerrkungen versehen, compiled by Levinus Hulsius, and printed in 26 parts in Nuremberg, Frankfurt am Main, Oppenheim, and Hanau from 1598 to 1663.
This work has been identified as the first issue of the first edition of part twelve by Church.
Translation of: India Orientalis pars X / by Johann Theodor de Bry, printed in Frankfurt, 1613, which is itself largely a translation of: Descriptio ac delineatio geographica detelctionis freti, sive, Transitus ad occasum, supra terras Americanas, in Chinam atque Japonem ducturi / edited by Hessel Gerritsz, Amsterdam, 1612 and includes works by Isaac Massa, Pedro Fernandes de Queirós, and Hessel Gerritsz with regards to voyages in search of the Northwest and Northeast Passages to China and Japan and attempts by the Dutch to discover a Northeast Passage to the East Indies.
"Eygentliche vnd kurtze Andeutung oder Vermeldung der Inseln vnd Oerter, so von den Holländern hiebevor in Verrichtung der mitnächtigen Schiffahrten entdeckt worden, auss H. Johann Heygens von Lintschotten Beschreibung genommen", p. 20-23, has separate caption title.
"Discurss, oder Relation einer wunderbarlichen Supplication, Thr. Königl. Majest. in Spanien, von einem Capetein Petrus Ferdinandes de Quir genandt, Verlangendt die Entdeckung dess fünfften Theils der Welt, Terra Australis incognita genandt, vnd dessen vberauss grossen Reichthumb vnd Fruchtbarkeit, &c. vbergeben", p. 24-37, has separate caption title and is a translation of selections of: Descubrimiento de las regiones austriales / by Pedro Fernandes de Queirós.
"Folgen etliche Mappen oder Land-Taffeln, vnd Kupfferstück, darinn die Gelegenheit der Landtschafften, davon in dieser obgesetzten Schiffart Meldung geschehen, eigentlich abgebildet vnd für Augen gestellet werden. In Kupffer gestochen vnd an Tag gegeben durch Johann-Theodor de Bry", p. [2-9], 2nd count, has separate dated title page with imprint: Gedruckt zu Oppenheim bey Hieronymo Gallern, in Verlegung Levini Hulsii Wittib. In Jahr 1614. This separate work has the illustration of the Samoyeds worshipping their idols on p. [4], 2nd count and K3 is signed on the verso of the sheet instead of the recto.
A second issue of the same year and imprint differs in the way gathering K has been arranged: the illustration of the Samoyeds worshipping their idols is on the verso of leaf K and the plan on the verso in the first issue of K2 is on the verso of K3 and visa versa.
