Prospectus for the 6 vol. ed. published by William Mackenzie; the work was also being issued by the same publisher in 18 divisions, in cloth.

Includes prospectus, partial list of subscribers, review from The Times of 10th June 1876, specimen pages and 24 plates taken from vol. 1-5 of the 6 vol. work; 2 specimen binding styles. Text refers to events as late as 1878.

Includes added illustrated t.p. for vol. 1 & 5, with title: A series of picturesque views of seats of the noblemen and gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland.

Engravings by A.F. Lydon.

Printer's imprint: B. Fawcett, Engraver and Printer.

Includes a second binding style, on inner covers, of brown cloth blocked in gold, black and blind, with central panel of royal arms and title, signed JL [i.e. John Leighton], which is the binding used for the 6 volume set.

MASS copy: Bound in maroon morocco blocked in gold and blind, with central panel of royal arms and title signed JL [i.e. John Leighton] identical to the central panel on some of the cloth parts already issued, but with a different border incorporating a Greek key design..
