Edition Notes
Earlier Venetian edition with Pietro Vendramin's improvements came out in 1581 with imprint Apud Franciscum Francisci; as that one, the present edition is part of a program of newly publishing Giovanni d'Andrea's 14th-cent. commentaries ("Novellae") on the official collections of papal decretals (In primum Decretalium librum ..., etc.). The volumes appeared each with its own t.p., without sequential designation, and apparently without a collective title.
Commentary precedes in the order of the books, titles, and chapters of the Liber sextus, without including the text.
Publisher's device on t.p. (the three Graces with motto "Virtus in omni re dominatur," Zappella fig. 694).
Signatures: Aa-Xx⁸ Yy⁶ (Yy6, blank? absent in LC copy). Two-column layout.
"Elencus titulorum alphabetico ordine digestus" on verso of t.p. The "index locupletissimus" to the work is included as a separately captioned and alphabetized part in separably published, with same imprint, "Index rerum, verborum, et sententiarum memorabilium in commentarios Io. And. in quinque libros Decretalium, Sextum, & Mercuriales".
