"The Baviad" and "The Mæviad" are neo-classical imitations of Persius and Horace in the manner of Alexander Pope which savagely attack (both on poetic and political grounds) the then voguish Della Cruscan school of writers. Cf. DNB.

"An Epistle to Peter Pindar" is a denunciatory biography of satirist John Wolcot ('Peter Pindar'). Cf. DNB.
