"Bob has been photographing nature in Alaska for a really long time, 50 years to be exact. He has authored or coauthored 13 books dealing with Alaska's natural world. Most of these books are heavily illustrated with his photographs. In addition his photographs have appeared in numerous magazine articles many of which he has authored or helped others write. His professional background has helped him to explore nature photography in unique directions and with scientific accuracy. He was a biologist and research supervisor with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for 23 years. After his retirement in 1984 he continued to study and write about a wide variety of subjects ranging from amphibians to wetlands. He has several scientific publications to his credit. In addition, he was an associate professor at the University of Alaska in both Fairbanks and Juneau where he taught courses in fisheries and ornithology. He has a Master of Science degree in fisheries from the University of Washington and an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Alaska Juneau. 'Photographing Nature in Alaska' contains stunning photographs that often depict unique behavior and settings. The stories behind the photographs may help you to be a better photographer or make you smile." From back cover.
