Robert Morris (1734-1806) was an American financier and statesman. A Philadelphia merchant, he became the first finance minister of the U.S. and helped to finance the American Revolution through his business activities. He signed the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation and was one of the framers of the U.S. Constitution.
