The geographer Fred Lukermann of Minnesota, writing in the mid-1960s about location theory, contrasted two different views of economic geography, ones that I will call, following David Bloor (1983, ch. 8), the Enlightenment and the conservative approaches (see also Chapters Four and Nine of this book).
