Brief introduction to Kari'ña social organization is followed by a summary of official indigenist policy concentrating on the Instituto Agrario Nacional program creating indigenous enterprises. The effects of this program - and herein lies the contribution of the study - have been entirely negative for indigenous social, political, and economic organization.
