Urdu is a language spoken, and written in India Pakistan and neighbouring countries, since 500 years.
Summary of the first few chapters of the book:- It was a language that was spoken by general public with words of all major languages of India mixed with Persian and Arabic. The soldiers, officials and merchants, who came to India around 10th century A.D. with the emperors from Persia and Afghanistan, settled down here. They would mix their language, with the local languages and carry on the business.
In South India too this mixed language was popular among people of all castes and creeds. The sufis used this language to be in touch with the general public. They wrote their sermons, philosophical views, and impressions in Arabic/persian script coining new letters to the alphabets to pronounce words from India, not common in middle east, like tha bha etc.
In Karnataka the earliest writings of Sufis have been found and lots of research has been done.
Since 1347 A.D. North Indians have been coming to South India from Alauddin Khilji's times. In old princely Mysore state, and during the time of Hyder Ali & Tippu Sultan, many Maratha lands were included in Mysore State, influencing the language and culture to the extent, that Deccan plateau, was inhabited by a new unique local community. Their language was Deccani.
Arabic words were not new to them as the merchants in ships from Egypt, Rome and Arab countries had been coming to coastal areas of Indian peninsula in ships from ancient times. (according to historical evidences written in 800 A.D.). (Ibn-e- Khazdaba 250 hijri).
Manuscripts of first Deccani (old Urdu), writers since 1681, of old Mysore state were traced by her, and their contributions have been included in this book. The book introduces hundreds of other authors and poets with a short biography and examples from their works. On each of this author research is being done and many students have been awarded Ph.d. s for doing more research guided by this book.
