Plates produced through Blake's own process of relief etching in 1793. Date of printing, 1795. Dates taken from The William Blake archive. This copy acquired from Blake by Thomas Dibdin no later than 1816. Bound after 1816 with The book of Thel, (Bentley) copy J, in straight-grained brown morocco. Acquired by Amy Lowell ca. 1900, and bequeathed by her in 1925 to Houghton Library, Harvard University. For complete provenance, see The William Blake archive and Bentley (p. 128).
Watermark: 1794 J Whatman; printed in brownish-black ink; colored.
